Opening Thursday, August 16 and continuing to Sunday, September 9, is this year's exhibition by Western's Department of Visual Arts Masters of Fine Arts candidate, Todd Tremeer, whose work examines "history painting" and the narrative construction of the past.
Using museum dioramas as a starting point, his series of paintings call into question how official histories can be skewed by alternate interpretations or the very media used to portray them. In a separate area of the exhibition, Tremeer invites the public to participate in constructing a new historical narrative by adding stamped images to a mural on the Gallery wall. Everyone is welcome to attend the opening on Thursday, August 16 at 8 p.m. when the artist will be present. Gallery hours are Tuesday to Thursday, 12 to 7 p.m. and Friday to Sunday, 12 to 4 p.m. For more information, please call 519-661-3181 or visit www.mcintoshgallery.ca.
