Commitment to coaching has been the hallmark of Jack Fairs' distinguished career. He started teaching and coaching at Western in 1947. At the beginning of his career, Fairs served as a tennis, football and basketball coach. In 1962, he found his niche in the sport of squash and since then, no team in Canada has had the success of Fairs' squash Mustangs. His teams have won OUAA championships all but four times over the past 30 years. He retired in 1988 but continues to coach squash and teach as Professor Emeritus of Kinesiology.
