François Bourguignon is internationally recognized as an intellectual leader in the economics of public policy, inequality and economic growth and development.

Bourguignon has also served as an advisor to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), United Nations, European Commission, and was a member of the Council of Economic Advisors to the French Prime Minister. He became Chief Economist and Senior Vice-President of the World Bank in 2003. 

He is currently on leave from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris, at which he has served as Professor of Economics since 1985. 

October 20, AM - Robert Lacroix

Robert Lacroix joined the Université de Montréal in 1970 as a professor in the Economics Department. He would go on to become Chairman of the Department of Economics, Director of the Centre for Research and Development in Economics, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and Rector of the Université de Montréal from 1998 to 2005.  He also served as the President and Executive Director of CIRANO – the Centre for Interuniversity Research and Analysis on Organizations.

Lacroix holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Louvain (Belgium).  He has done extensive research into the economics of labour and human resources, as well as the economics of technological progress and innovation.  He is the author of numerous books, book chapters, scientific articles and research reports. 

October 19, PM - David Lepofsky

As Chair of the Ontarians with Disabilities Act (ODA) Committee from 1995 to 2005, David Lepofsky inspired thousands of people and organizations across the province to work with the Committee to bring about meaningful legislative change. Today he serves in the capacity of Human Rights Reform Representative for Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act Alliance.

Lepofsky has been influential in raising awareness of barrier free access for all and has motivated people with disabilities to continue to fight for equal rights.

Lepofsky graduated with Honors from Osgoode Hall Law School, was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1981 and received his Master of Laws from Harvard Law School in 1982.

While with the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General he has argued cases in civil, constitutional and administrative law. He now argues criminal appeals for the Crown.

Awards and distinctions bestowed upon Lepofsky include the Order of Canada, induction into the Terry Fox Hall of Fame, and the Law Society of Upper Canada's Lincoln Alexander Award for his commitment to public and community service, and to the people of Ontario.
