Under the FRR/RYMA model of part-time appointments, Records of Employment indicating termination would automatically be sent to Revenue Canada for each part-time faculty member after they had completed a Limited Duties course. Under the new Standing Appointment model we view the faculty member with Standing Appointment as having “continuing appointment” so as to avoid their removal from faculty directories between courses, and to reduce the administrative burdens associated with frequent terminations and rehires. A consequence of the new model is that we do not automatically file Records of Employment for faculty members with Standing Appointment at the end of their assignment. Some faculty, however, still wish to make claims for Employment Insurance and require a Record of Employment to do so. As a result, Human Resources will issue Records of Employment indicating a “end of contract” status for persons with Standing Appointment at their request. Please ensure that you direct such persons to Human Resources should they require a Record of Employment.
Please do not hesitate to contact our office, or Human Resources if you have any questions.
