What is R-Ladies? The R-Ladies, London Ontario chapter will be celebrating their first full year this January. R-Ladies #LdnOnt is the first Canadian chapter of R-Ladies Global, a worldwide organization to promote gender diversity in the R user community. R is a powerful open source tool for data analysis and visualization that continues to gain popularity across a wide range of fields. Our group meets monthly to provide workshops and other events to facilitate community and skill building in R. Join us for our first event of 2018, and then keep a look out for our monthly events by subscribing to our MeetUp page.
Lightening Talks: Come join the R-Ladies in our first ever Lightening Talks event. In this fun, informal setting, participants have approximately 3 to 5 minutes to speak about their research, work, or a puzzle they're trying to solve - anything goes! R-related presentations are a bonus but not necessary!
Our goal is to:
- provide a space to learn about the others in our community
- exchange ideas about methodologies, interests, and the tools we all are using.
This is meant to be a fun, informal chance to present your work and learn about others in your community. It's also a great opportunity to practice public speaking or prepare for the 3MT (Three-Minute Thesis)! Whatever your goal, we look forward to having you present.
Join us for food and drinks (our treat if you present!) after the event.
When: January 30, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Where: London Public Library (251 Dundas, downtown) in the first floor lobby
RSVP and fill out info form by December 23, 2017 at our MeetUp page

NB: Please note that, in keeping with the global R-Ladies mission, R-Ladies London, Ontario will prioritize female leadership and participation. All interested people (regardless of gender) are welcome to RSVP to our events. However, in the event that we receive a greater amount of presenter interest than we feel is manageable for the space/time, we will prioritize female presenters.
