The first thing you need to know before you come to Western is that you will have the best time of your life. No school compares to Western. As one of the top schools in the world, it offers everything you want and need from a university: academics, social activities, extracurricular activities, community involvement, and memories for a lifetime.
I have three points of advice for any incoming student.
First, take the academic part of Western seriously. After all, you are paying money for a university degree so you should get the most out of it. Even if you are not sure of the career you intend to pursue after Western, it never hurts to study hard and have competitive grades in order to keep your options open for more schooling or job opportunities.
Secondly, have fun. Western is by far the most fun school in Canada. You will meet many people in your residence and classes, some of which will become life-long friends. Don't overdo it, but make sure to take time and have fun with your friends.
Thirdly, get involved. There are tons of school clubs (political, religious, sporting, and artistic) to join, so get involved. Western encourages students to also get involved in the London, Ontario community. Shinerama and Infusion, were two charity programs that I become involved in while at Western and I highly recommend everyone to volunteer in the community.
