Buenos Dias! Another great day in Chile! The conference opened today, a beautiful ceremony, a snapshot of Chilean culture and lifestyle. The students enjoyed choosing the talks that interested them, a cornucopia of topics, what a great way to get an education! Several of our faculty and students did a wonderful job presenting. Congratulations! We ended the day by attending a wonderful reception, a sea of people, but our purple shirts stood out! This is a transformational opportunity for our students . They can’t wait to go to China in 2014! We went to dinner shared a wonderful meal, relived the experiences of the day. Team Western! Best regards, Angie
OLA! We arrived safely on Sunday, tired but exhilarated! Chile is beautiful and the people are welcoming. The pace is slower. We boarded a bus Monday morning and toured the countryside. We observed many occupations. We visited a restaurant in the country where women were making empanadas over a open fire.Truly a labour of love! This is the national food. These women singing while they work, share their stories, talk about their familes. There is much solidarity amongst these women. They enjoy their work, making over 800 empanadas a day. Then we were off to the Andes to see the magnificant mountains, and the breathtaking landscape! We ended the day engaged in more occupation-singing, dancing, and enjoying a meal together. One of our students commented "this is the best field trip I have ever been on". Best regards from Chile-Angie-Stay tuned for more!
