The 2012 Great Northern Concrete Toboggan Race has come to an end and the Western Engineering Toboggan Team has made its way back to London, Ontario. This years organizing committee did an excellent job running the competition, covering everything from the Technical Exhibits and Race Day to organizing our shuttles to all the events and the airport this morning.
On Saturday each team competed at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, Alberta where the performance of each teams sled was tested. Overall we had a great day on the hill and beautiful weather. We had a great presence on the hill, as well as having alumni, family and friends out to watch the races.
This year was a great year for the Western Engineering Toboggan Team! We won 5 different awards, which covered all aspects of our team. Our hard work throughout the year really paid off with the Western Engineering Toboggan Team winning awards for the Best Concrete Mix Design, Best Concrete Reinforcement Design, Best Toboggan Design, Best Technical Exhibit and Best Technical Report.
Our team worked very hard this year and had many, many late nights in the shop designing, constructing and testing all the components of our sled, and our success this year would not have been possible without the support of our sponsors, faculty members and staff. So again Thank-you to everyone who helped make this possible.
