I apologize for neglecting a posting for week 5 - my schedule here got the better of me. The last two weeks have been filled with academic pursuit and late night preparations for the days that followed. Having 10 hours of russian class a week and assignments involving aforementioned Six Sigma and RFID topics have made me stick to my desk more than desired during these beautiful Russian summer days.
I had been given two days notice to complete my study of RFID technology and make a full presentation based on what it is and how it has been applied in security systems. This was a fascinating experience since I had to cram a lot of material into a presentation and understand it. After two late nights where I saw the sun set and rise, I completed this task and made a successful presentation. Upon reflection, this was a great experience for me as a student and a future engineer where it is often necessary to work according to the convenience of someone else. It was also a great opportunity to brush up on my presentation skills!

On Friday of week 5, I visited an electronics manufacturer that produces circuit boards for all applications in all industries. The company name was Pantes, easily googled as it is one of the most prominent manufacturers of these electronic components in Russia. It was truly fascinating to see how a series of machines can precisely lay out and attach all the specified components and achieve a six sigma level of output!!! Near the end of week 6, my cousins whom I haven’t seen for 12 years visited me from Moscow and we had a great time catching up. We ended up eating at a great Georgian restaurant downtown where everything they served had cheese on it! I recall the meal consisting of fried cheese, a cheese pizza like dish, a cheese egg and bread thing, and dumplings which may or may not have had cheese in them.
Anyways, the sums up the last two weeks of my trip! Week 7 is now starting and I really have no idea what it will bring...ill keep y’all posted.
