What to Expect at Your Thesis Examination
DATE/TIME: Wednesday, March 4, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
PLACE: IGAB Room #1N07 (Graduate Studies Office)
Dr. Nicole Haggerty, a Western PhD graduate, current Ivey professor, and experienced thesis examiner, will unlock the mysteries of your thesis exam.
Nicole will share “insider” information from both a student and thesis examiner perspective. Find out what goes on behind closed doors during your examination, and come away with a major strategic advantage so you know what to expect when it’s time for you to be tested.
You will learn about:
- The thesis administrative procedure
- Who sits on your examination committee and why they’re there
- How your thesis examination is run
- How many rounds of questions you will be asked
- How many times examiners can question you
- How long your examination will take
- What happens during deliberations
- How you’ll feel when it’s all over
There will also be an opportunity for you to ask questions and come away with the answers that are most important to you.
We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday!
