McIntosh Gallery, Western University, is seeking a part-time communications and outreach coordinator. Reporting to the director/chief curator, they will promote exhibitions, events and programs, build collaborative community and campus relationships, and manage a dynamic team of volunteers and interns.
Main tasks include:
- Updating content on gallery website
- Working with designers for print and web advertising
- Designing and scheduling social media campaigns on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
- Live social media reporting during events and programs
- Writing and editing press releases and media advisories
- Building productive relationships with the media, community and campus groups, and other arts organizations
- Supervising and scheduling volunteers and interns for front desk reception and events
Knowledge and Experience:
- Post-secondary education or experience in communications, journalism, marketing, advertising, arts administration, design or a related field
- Excellent oral, written and online communications skills
- Producing and editing ads for print and web platforms
- Experience updating websites and generating promotional materials
- Proficiency using Facebook, Instagram,Twitter and Microsoft Office
- Strong project management skills
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and work simultaneously on various projects
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively
Assets:
- Experience in a public art gallery/museum or artist-run centre
- Experience editing and proofreading art-related texts
- Knowledge of contemporary art
Terms:
