The Western Student Research Conference (WSRC) is looking for judges this year. WSRC 2020 is Western’s annual undergraduate multidisciplinary conference that showcases research projects conducted by undergraduate students throughout Ontario.
This year’s conference will be taking place on Friday March 27, 2020 at the Physics & Astronomy Building.
We are currently recruiting graduate students (Master's, PhD), post-doctoral and faculty members to be conference judges for the 2020 WSRC, and if also interested, to help mark abstracts! Researchers at Western have been invaluable to past conferences in providing additional expertise in judging the undergraduate research presentations.
By serving as a judge for the WSRC you have the opportunity to give back to the UWO community with your time and commitment for supporting undergraduate research. Not only do you get to see all of the projects and topics from students across Ontario, you are able to see behind the scenes as to how a conference is run but also what criteria conferences look for when evaluating presentations. The deadline for contacting the WSRC is by March 1st, although early emails would be appreciated as well.
The tentative conference schedule is shown below:
- 9:00am - 10:00am: Registration
- 10:30am - 11:00am: Opening Remarks
- 11:00am - 1:00pm: Flash Talk Presentations and Poster Presentations
- 1:00pm - 2:00pm: Lunch & Keynote Presentation
- 2:00pm - 4:00pm: Poster Presentations and Oral Presentations
- 4:00pm - 4:30pm: Closing Remarks
Please let us know if you will be able to judge during the following presentation time slots:
- 11:00 am - 1:00pm
- 2:00pm - 4:00pm
Lunch will be provided and you do NOT need to attend the entire conference as we understand the conference is on a Friday.
If you are interested in being a part of the conference this year and/or marking abstracts, please let us know by sending an email to westernsrc.research@gmail.com.
