Do you have a thought, a page, a poem, a dance, a song, or any other form of expression that conveys your sense of positionality within or outside of our Canadianism? The i am... project would like to work with you to capture your academic and/or creative expressions in a short video.
This fall, 25 graduate students will be selected to participate in an exciting opportunity to capture their creative reflection in a three-minute video exploring their sense of identity and belonging or not belonging. Open to graduate students from all Canadian universities, i am... is seeking students who have a story to tell, are open to learning at an accelerated pace, and are available between October 2020 and April 2021.
Successful participants will:
- Benefit from the creative mentorship of a Gemini Award-winning filmmaker
- Learn the newest methods of digital storytelling
- Produce a three-minute video for their creative portfolio
- Participate in a film premier of their work
- Contribute to a research project investigating Canadian identity through the Canada Excellence Research Chair in Migration and Integration at Ryerson University
- Receive a $700 honorarium upon completion of their work
