With a fall return to campus around the corner, Western Libraries is preparing to welcome you back.
One of the ways Western Libraries is getting ready for onsite visitors is to discontinue use of HathiTrust’s emergency temporary access service – known as ETAS – that provides remote access to digitized versions of physical books and materials.
With library locations reopening in August, Western Libraries must discontinue ETAS to comply with copyright law and so we can once again offer fuller access to physical collections.
What does that mean for you?
- You can still request physical materials for pick up at Western Libraries or affiliated university college library locations.
- Starting in September, you can book appointments to visit the Weldon Library stacks – Weldon continues to be closed for general use due to construction.
- Throughout August, other Western Libraries locations will reopen to provide study space, computer and printing access, and other resources.
- Western Libraries remains a HathiTrust member so you can take advantage of the hard-to-find and obscure primary sources in their digital library, including rare government documents, newspapers, photographs, and maps. You can also download entire books in the public domain.
Keep an eye on the Western Libraries website for the most up-to-date news on location reopening, service improvements or changes, and the latest resources to help you with your studies, teaching, and research.
