Throughout the coming months, our bilingual online science/medical case competition will be attended by high school and university students from across Canada and the USA. IgNITE offers an opportunity for students to get involved in research by submitting a research proposal. The competition entails an abstract, elevator pitch video and poster submission spread across two rounds.
Some key things we provide competitors to ensure their success not only in the competition but in their future endeavors are:
- A comprehensive case package - outlining the field of interest and 3 lab techniques;
- Mentors - honours/grad/med students and;
- Workshops - such as how to critically appraise research.
Our main goal at IgNITE is to create an opportunity for students to learn valuable skills and build key connections so they can become the scientists they hope to be. Mentors play a key role in this goal as they offer insight and guidance to our competitors throughout the competition.
We are looking for individuals who have a strong grasp on science and medical research concepts and experimental design and a passion for mentoring less experienced students to reach their goals.
