The launch of the new curriculum, one that will replace the previous curriculum entirely, is scheduled to launch on October 4, 2021 through our learning management system, EDGE.
Mitacs Training courses will continue to be offered to graduate students and post-doctoral fellows at no cost to them or the university. Our courses will also continue to use the same learning management system (EDGE), and offer high-quality skills and professional development training.
We are moving away from fully in-person and fully online course offerings to a mixed, hybrid ‘course bundle’ model, in which asynchronous requirements must be completed to register for the synchronous portion, now at 1.5 - 2 hours, instead of a full day.
VIEW SYNOPSIS OF NEW CURRICULUM
Currently, due to the pandemic, Mitacs is offering the courses online, through Zoom, until further notice.
The curriculum launch will have several phases:
- Phase 1 – Group 1 courses: the following courses will be available in October, starting with the asynchronous portion: Networking skills - Communication skills - Project and time management - Reconciliation and EDI.
- Phase 2 – Group 2 courses: the following courses will be available in December, starting with the synchronous portion: Career planning, R&D management, Leadership skills and Writing and presentation skills.
While we are finalizing the implementation of the new curriculum on our learning management system, we are gradually removing the previous content.
Important dates to remember:
- October 3, 2021: Access to the previous curriculum asynchronous courses will conclude. Users have until this date to complete current enrollments in these courses and download transcripts and certificates.
