About the Talk
Queer @ Western will focus on being 2SLGBTQI in the academy. Dr. WG Pearson will discuss how things have changed and also ways in which conditions for queer and trans people in the university system are still problematic, both in terms of the things one encounters as a student and in terms of conditions for faculty. This is particularly important right now due to the university's growing commitment to EDI and our understanding of the impact intersectionality has on how people thrive at Western. As developing leaders, there is a lot to think about in terms of how we promote a queer- and trans-inclusive society at Western that is also respectful of intersectional concerns.
