Our next Zoom event will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 from 12 noon - 1:00 p.m.
Topic: Frugal Biomedical Innovations
Guest Speakers:
James Lacefield, Director of the School of Biomedical Engineering and Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering and Medical Biophysics at Western
Ian Cunningham, Western Professor and Robarts Scientist in Medical Biophysics, Biomedical Engineering and Medical Imaging
The sophistication, maintenance, and supply needs of modern biomedical equipment used in the developed world is taken for granted. However, much of this equipment is not suitable outside of urban centres with many supporting resources. Creating biomedical technologies designed to operate in remote or low-resource environments would have an enormous impact on the health of the world’s population.
October’s speakers will discuss Western’s Frugal Biomedical Innovations Program and provide an example of such technology.
