Mindfulness for Academic Success
Mindfulness for Academic Success (MAS) is a 6-week, experiential program for graduate students introducing mindfulness and meditation practices. Through guided meditations and reflective exercises, participants will develop their attention and awareness skills and cultivate insight and well-being.
Research shows that practicing mindfulness can reduce stress and worry, enhance focus and sustained attention, boost feelings of contentment, and help us to respond, rather than react, to stressful situations.
By participating in the MAS program, you can expect to:
- Learn the difference between attention, awareness, and mindfulness
- Practice meditation techniques to help cultivate attention and awareness
- Gain the tools to start a daily meditation practice
- Identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours that lead to anxiety, self-doubt, and procrastination.
- Connect with and create a community with fellow graduate students
