Discover innovative and dynamic approaches for better understanding the multiple factors that influence health – ecosystem approaches to health – with an experienced, pan-Canadian team. During this intensive course you will learn methods for carrying out research and interventions on issues at the nexus of health, ecosystems, equity and society. In a time of an unprecedented polycrisis, connections are more important than ever. Our course is designed to build relationships that can heal. The overall objective of this course is to provide participants with a working knowledge of ecosystem approaches to health, such that they can integrate the principles into their own work, as necessary, and to build relationships with land and among individuals with common interests in safeguarding a habitable future.

Time Management – Starting May 3
If you find yourself frequently running out of time on a project or impending deadlines are making you anxious, this workshop is for you. You’ll learn how to make the most of every minute, avoid procrastination and other “time thieves,” and create achievable plans and schedules, based on project management best practices.
Practical Tips for Growing Your Network – Starting May 12
Get the knowledge you need to build your network! Your time at graduate school/during your post doctoral fellowship will be filled with opportunities to make connections in and outside of your field. This short online workshop will give you the information you’ll need to make the most of each opportunity.
Please keep in mind that space is limited and that these workshops are open to graduate students and postdocs across the country.
We would like to invite you to register in one of our upcoming instructor development programs taking place in May.
The Teaching Assistant Training Program (TATP) is a hands-on, 18-hour development course for new graduate students. Learn about fair grading practices, diversity in the classroom, lecturing, and giving students feedback on written work. Get real-time, hands-on teaching experience in micro-teaching sessions.
At the end of the session, you will receive a certificate as evidence of your commitment to the development of your knowledge and skill as a teacher!
The program will run over five days. The first afternoon is scheduled for one hour longer than the remaining days:
If you feel that you have already mastered the essentials as a Teaching Assistant, consider enrolling in the Advanced Teaching Program (ATP) a program for graduate students and postdocs who would like to develop the practical skills necessary to teach their own courses. This seminar will touch teaching strategically for maximum impact, developing and maintaining a culture of respect in your classroom, dealing with difficult students and authentically assessing student learning.
Upon completion of a capstone project, you will receive a certificate of achievement. You can also submit your capstone project to the Teaching Innovation Projects (TIPs) http://ir.lib.uwo.ca/tips/ Journal for review and possible publication!
