Today was another excellent day at the Great Northern Concrete Toboggan Race. Today’s main activity was the Technical Exhibit, where all the teams explain the technical side of their toboggans. The entire engineering design process from all 20 teams was examined and judged by industry professionals and corporate representatives alike. WETT did four presentations over the course of the day for Concrete, Superstructure, Spirit and Sustainability. Among the corporate awards are $2,000 from CIRCA for best use of fly ash in a concrete mix and $1,500 from Holcim Canada for the most sustainable toboggan.
Throughout the Technical Exhibit, everyone’s sprits were high and WETT received numerous compliments on both our presentation skills and the technical content of our toboggan. One judge even mentioned that WETT had ‘the best [concrete] skis he’d seen all day’. The feedback was received well and we are optimistic for the awards ceremony on Saturday evening during closing ceremonies.
Tomorrow is the day that we have been working towards all year long: Race day. Our toboggan has never looked better and we are all very enthusiastic to get the ‘King of Hill’ elimination tournament started. Stay tuned for Race Day updates and closing ceremonies awards.
